Voting Pattern Summary
In Wisconsin the battle between the Democrats and the Republicans is between their respective strengths in the urban Milwaukee and suburban Milwaukee in the south-east corner of the state and between Democratic strength in Western Wisconsin and Republican strength in Northern Wisconsin.
In an even race, the Republicans can carry the northern centres of Green Bay and Oshkosh, so an Obama victory in Brown and Winnebago counties should be a harbinger of carrying the state overall.
The tables of the key counties are below, please click to enlarge.
Note: No Bellwether table as No Republican has carried Wisconsin since 1984.
Note 2: Where an urban county is on a state border and is part of an urban area that crosses state lines, the adjoining state or major city of an adjoining state is noted in brackets for reference.
In Wisconsin optical scanning of paper ballots and Direct Recording Electronic devices with a voter verified paper trail are used.
